Best for: That time you're on the other side of the world
We have really gone global this time. This special edition comes all the way from Perth. Yes, the quest for the best brunch in London has stretched its boundary (ever so slightly) to Australia. Whilst most of you Londoners were still fast asleep I was on a mission for the best brunch in Perth’s central business district. With my amazing Airbnb host I ventured out to the edgy side of town, Northbridge. As vibrant on a Sunday morning with breakfast enthusiasts as it is on a Friday night with those seeking the newest concept bars in town.
There's a big brunch culture in Perth with many places to try, but after passing Flora & Fauna a couple of days earlier, and being in awe of the dishes being brought out to customers sitting under the kitsch buntings, I knew I had to return. A true hidden gem down an unsuspecting side street, the vegan, raw and paleo (insert other on-trend dietary requirements) delights were plentiful and created a very difficult decision when it came to selecting a dish. The choice of freshly pressed juices, smoothies and herbal teas were also vast and ready to accompany either one of the incredible choices from the sweet cabinet or the short but perfectly varied food menu.
The order:
I mean, London has some tough competition here. Have you ever seen a brunch quite so beautifully presented? Don't underestimate the tiny kitchen, it must be darn well equipped and efficiently run to create such artwork – that is without even mentioning the incredible flavour combinations. The banana bread was second only to the toasted banana bread in Rick Stein’s café in Padstow, Cornwall. However the accompanying fruit was sensationally fresh, ripe and juicy. Sia’s pumpkin was spiced with cajun, topped with avo and laid out on the most amazing rye bread, which tasted as special as it looks. It also came decorated with flowers and fruits, which made Flora & Fauna all the more unique. What a wonderful find! Get booking your flights; the brunch scene in Perth should not be overlooked.
