Best for: Fun, empowering quotes and all-day brunch

Weekend calls for brunch, no matter where we are. So when I found myself in Amsterdam for the weekend I wasted no time in finding a brunch spot – literally, it was the first place the hotel receptionist pointed us towards, now how can you say no to that? With my brunch-loving beau by my side and two food-lover Peruvians on their way to the city plans were set before the weekend started.
Teds is an all-day brunch café in the Oud-West area of the city and was just a few minutes walk from our hotel. The first thing you see when you get in are all the motivational, empowering and funny quotes around the restaurant – as well as the mint and orange flavoured water tanks. The menu wasn’t bad, and we were soon digging in.

The order:
- 2 x Eggs Norwegian: poached eggs with smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce served on a croissant
- 2 x Poached Eggs served with whole wheat toast
- 2 x Scrambled Eggs with tomatoes, mushrooms and chives on white toast
- Bloody Mary
- French 75
So I must say that the drinks were not THAT incredible, maybe a bit too lemon-y or not spicy enough, but we weren't going to complain – they weren't bad, and to be honest I don’t think many people drink like we do. The food though… so, so good, just wanted to keep eating more. As usual I pondered over ordering a little extra but the Norwegian Eggs proved to be enough to fill me, quite the achievement. The mushrooms in the scramble looked great and all the eggs were poached to perfection.
Definitely a spot worth considering when visiting Amsterdam and definitely a locals spot! We arrive at 11ish to an empty café and left with a queue going round the corner!
