Best for: perfectly poached eggs and girly catch-ups
The brilliant thing about Tom’s is that it's turned into a bit of a failsafe for me. The poach is always perfectly done and it’s a chilled atmosphere where you can catch up with friends. I arrived (as usual) a few minutes late – it is a few minutes walk from the station and it was a bloody hot day! Lu was already waiting for me with a large bottle of water to cure our gin flu. I must say though that the 'specials' boards are not very well located, and out of sight for a few tables at least. Its just a bit uncomfortable because with the tables being very close together, once you finally sit down, after bumping against other brunchers, you don’t really want to get back up again. But who am I kidding? It wasn't as if it was going to change my mind, one look at the menu and we were ready to order!
The order:
- Eggs Royale
- Side of avocado
- Eggs Benedict (with bacon)
- Triple cooked truffle chips with parmesan
- Two large bottles of water
Now all we needed was a small walk, preferably in the shade, and a bit of a rest at some non-crowded park (so basically a miracle). Gotta love sunny London.
To try next time:
- Brioche French toast with caramelised apples and cinnamon cream
- Eton Mess
