I like to start my visits to Austin on the famous South Congress – there’s a great selection of restaurants, food trucks and cafes. Make sure to stop by Uncommon Objects for curios, Allens Boots for your first pair of cowboy boots (Heritage Boot if you’re looking for more unusual designs), and Feathers Boutique for a beautifully curated selection of timeless, vintage pieces.
Sunday was Easter, and we knew that a lot of people would be out with family for a post-church (it is Texas, after all) meal. For that reason we chose Café No Sé, which doesn’t take bookings – family groups would be way more likely to want to reserve tables. CNS is part of the South Congress Hotel, which has beautiful, modern interiors (and a hefty price tag), but the Café manages to have a personality entirely its own. There was a 20-minute wait, but we were invited to relax in the hotel lounge with a copy of Vogue so it wasn’t a problem at all!
