When the Peruvian cousins are in town, you can be sure of something: we will eat, and we will eat a lot. With that in mind, where else would we go other than Dirty Bones? Ideally located off High Street Kensington it's perfectly close to Kensington Gardens, you know for a post-meal walk, crawl, or nap (believe me, you’ll need it).
You know how much I usually complain about my tardiness? Well now you know where I get it from.. It's in my blood! We Peruvians are known for being 'fashionably late', and by that I mean three seasons late. Anyways, I am very proud to say I was the first one there, and only 5 mins late to our booking. Some of this English punctuality must be rubbing off.
I eyed the menu while I was waiting, of course, and oh my… this is not one for those with tiny stomachs. If you come here, you will eat and drink a lot.

The order:
- 2 x Avocado & poached eggs – spicy smashed avocado with two free range poached eggs on sourdough toast
- 2 x Green cheese toastie – triple stack toastie of avocado, taleggio and cheddar on sourdough + side of 2 poached eggs
- Djinn djinn – Bombay sapphire gin, martini rosso, fresh grapefruit, raspberries, cucumber, ting
- The littlest hobo - Bombay sapphire gin, lemon juice, passion fruit syrup, wyld wood cider
- Shadow - malted milk & chocolate ice cream, milk, Oreo, chocolate sauce + kahlua shot
- Buster - banana, kiwi & strawberry ice cream, milk, strawberry sauce + vodka shot
The side of poached eggs for the green cheese toastie was the best thing ever – personally I would’ve added a couple more slices of cheese, but oh well. The avo on toast looked very herb-y but I was told it was delicious and very filling! The drinks look wonderful and my chocolate boozy Kahlua shake had a wonderful kick to it (the perfect mix!). It reminded me of why I like to drink, and why breakfast should not be an exception. Also, I highly rate any drinks menu that has funny (but not weird) drink names. I mean, besides their own bloody mary and negroni spin-offs, Dirty Bones has the 'You chicken?' in their Dirty drinks section that is obviously waiting for someone to prove them wrong; and the shooters section has a 'Flat Liner'. Let's just say you'd better be up for a challenge when you come here! With so much more to sample, we will be back for much, much more – and definitely the £19 pp bottomless brunch in Soho, and boozy brunch flight in Kensington - 4 glasses of dirty cocktails (lexy cocktail, Dirty Mary Cocktail or Prosecco). Phew!
