As soon as we walked in it was love at first sight. The bronze light fixtures, the pale pink leather chairs – I wanted to move in. Or redesign my entire apartment GG style. SOMETHING!!! We were seated in a corner of the ground floor (the grand café) with a view of the room and the impressive bar, flanked by sweeping bold black staircases to the upper floor (the restaurant). It was 11am, but I could really imagine the place in low lighting during an evening – perfect for an intimate date. Back to brunch though – and the menu. Largely German-inspired twists on brunch classics, I struggled to find something that wasn’t centred on sausage. No matter though – a dairy free chia pot (only £3!) and a smoked salmon/poached egg combo caught my eye. The poach won. The others contemplated several dishes – everything sounded so good – and settled on GG Breakfast x 2, and a sausage dish with extra egg.
As we waited for our waiter to take our order, we admired the marble furniture, brass detailing and the giant floral centerpiece. Impressive.
