Best for: Porridge… obvs.
My love for this place knows no limits. On recommendation by blog star extraordinaire Deliciously Ella I visited 26 Grains to satisfy my clean eating cravings. I now follow them on all social platforms (top stalker). 26 Grains is not just porridge, oh no… The options for toppings, syrups and garnishes make it the super food dream. Be it coconut yogurt, raw cacao, date syrup and even avo on the savoury options (yes there’s savoury porridge) the menu is vast.
This venue is about as hip as it gets in central London. Although it would not look out of place in Brixton Market or on Kingsland Road, it is suitably located in Neals Yard snuggled behind the streets of Long acre. The hidden gem of brightly coloured buildings is the Gwyneth Paltrow dream, housing various whole food/ organic/ vegan/ paleo lifestyle eateries and retailers.
The staff are super friendly and happy to help with any order queries or recommendations. They are all very well suited to the environment and during the time that we visited they were chatting with equally young customers about cool start up businesses and hip hangouts.

I've been waiting to make the monumental announcement, but its time… they offer poach. It’s the place of dreams. They produce an egg and kale porridge bowl. 26 Grains is specialist, super special, extra special, really incredibly special… I think I’m fan girling right now. As star struck as I was with the place that offers my favourite food - of all time - I had to make the difficult decision on which dish to try:
The order:
The order:
- 1 x Banana Cacao - Almond Milk Oats, Coconut Yogurt, Cacao Nibs, Banana and Maple
- 1 x Hazelnut & Butter - Almond Milk Oats, Butter, Hazelnuts, Cinnamon Coconut Palm Sugar and Apple
- 1 x Weekly Special - Apricot, Sesame, Cardamom Barley Porridge, Mixed Seeds, Tahini Halva Yogurt
So there is an actual flower adorning the special. Can 26 Grains be any cuter? While the toppings aren’t lined up like an Instagram acai bowl dream, they are scattered in a much more authentic manner which is fitting with the atmosphere. Have you ever had coconut yogurt in your porridge? Its life changing! These guys do know how to combine super food flavours. Creamy and delicious but entirely diary free, they use unsweetened almond milk formulating bowls incredibly accommodating for the health conscious as for the intolerant!
I could have every meal here and the great thing about that is they actually do cater for it! It’s not everybody’s fantasy brunch but for those of you that adore porridge as much as me you will fully understand how glorious this haven is. Perfect if you’re looking for a healthy option but filling nonetheless, and watching the pennies. 26 Grains’ authenticity and friendly atmosphere is perfect for a morning stop off in the heart of Covent Garden. I might have to make employment enquiries if I am to satisfy my porridge addiction. Will definitely be back soon… maybe tomorrow or later today.
