Score: 8.5
Best for: Working brunch
After a disappointing experience last month (and a score of only 5.5), Hoi Polloi got in touch with us and asked for a second chance to redeem themselves. Were we up for it? Of course we were! We turned up on Wednesday and the lovely young gentleman seating us announced that his manager had "some grand plans" for our party. How intriguing...
Arriving slightly earlier (11am) than our last visit meant that we got to experience the full Breakfast menu, and not the Lunch/Brunch that we’d had last time. The Breakfast menu is significantly better (in our opinion) as, to be quite honest, we prefer the 'br' part of 'brunch'. Uhm-ing and ah-ing over the cold press juices and shakes for a while, we ended up being boring and settling for standard coffees and teas. Not to fear – the food was the main event!

The order:
- Avocado, chilli, poached eggs on toast
- Side of bacon
- French toast, honeycomb, caramelised banana
- Hot smoked salmon hash, peas (no crème fraiche for DF moi)
- Side of poached eggs
The offending item last time was the avo toast, when I ended up with boiled (not poached) eggs. I was a bit nervous to try them again, so Bex took the dive instead. Nade deliberated between Eggs Royale and the French toast, but – duh – honeycomb on the French toast?! No contest!
To our great pleasure, the eggs arrived perfectly poached, and my hot smoked salmon was fragrant and flaky, and the plate gigantic (so happy with that portion size!). Rave reviews from Nade over the French toast, and full marks (and great value) for the avo toast. We were all starving and practically licked our plates clean! As usual, the service was impeccable. I think Hoi Polloi will be far more pleased with their score this time ;) Many thanks to Pablo for inviting us back.
